In my intro to Women’s Studies, Gender, Sexuality class a student asked,”Why isn’t there a Men’s Studies?”

What exactly would be taught in a Men’s Studies class?

The purpose of Women’s Studies is to examine the status of women in society. Particularly Western Society/United States society. I’m pretty sure we have a good idea about the status of men, namely white men, in our society.

Men haven’t been the excluded from education because they made the education. They haven’t been excluded from office because they made the office. The haven’t been excluded from certain jobs because they made those jobs. They haven’t been held to the same standards as women because they made the standards.

So what exactly would be taught in a Men’s studies class? History? I’m actually curious as to what that course would entail.
